Cloud9 and Team Spirit have been eliminated from the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024! Results of the first day of playoffs

The first game day of the playoff stage has come to an end. Cloud9 and Team Spirit have been eliminated from the Counter-Strike 2 Major, as they lost their opening matches, and there is no lower bracket in the tournament. We invite you to take a closer look at the match results.

Results of the Cloud9 vs Team Vitality match at the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024:

  1. Vitality removed Ancient
  2. Cloud9 removed Vertigo
  3. Vitality picked Inferno
  4. Cloud9 picked Anubis
  5. Cloud9 removed Nuke
  6. Vitality removed Overpass
  7. Mirage was left over

The first half on Inferno was very close, ending 6:6. After the side switch, Cloud9 lost the pistol round and a few subsequent rounds. However, after a successful round win, they seemed poised for a comeback, but Team Vitality secured an unexpected round win, followed by winning a full eco, breaking Cloud9's economy and morale. Unable to recover from this setback, C9 lost the first map 8:13.

On the second map, there was no contest at all. Team Vitality simply dominated Cloud9 with a score of 13:2, securing their spot in the championship semifinals.

Results of the Team Spirit vs FaZe Clan match at the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024:

  1. Spirit removed Inferno
  2. FaZe removed Anubis
  3. Spirit picked Mirage
  4. FaZe picked Nuke
  5. FaZe removed Overpass
  6. Spirit removed Ancient
  7. Vertigo was left over

The second match of the game day was the most interesting. Surprisingly for many viewers, Team Spirit lost one of their best maps - Mirage. FaZe Clan delivered an outstanding defense, winning the half 8:4, which was enough to secure the map 13:7.

On the map Nuke, a real show unfolded. Initially, Team Spirit struggled to find a single round on the attack, trailing 3 map points. Then, in overtime, they won 3 rounds on the attack but couldn't close out on defense. However, FaZe Clan couldn't mount a full comeback, and the map ended 19:16 in favor of Team Spirit.

On the deciding map, Vertigo, FaZe Clan started with an incredible streak of rounds on the defense side, leading 7:0. Team Spirit players struggled, with zontixx at one point having a 0:9 statistic. Despite FaZe Clan leading 11:4, Team Spirit showed resilience and came close to forcing overtime. At 12:11, rain won a 1v2 clutch against zontixx and sh1ro, which was a bitter defeat for Team Spirit.
