PGL Adjusts RMR Qualifier Dates [Updated]

Tournament operator PGL has announced that it will adjust the dates for qualifiers for RMR tournaments. This statement follows numerous complaints about the provided schedule of open qualifiers for PGL Antwerp Major 2022, which is due to be held from May 9 to 22 in the second largest city in Belgium.

We will discuss this with the teams and other participants and adjust the dates of the open qualifiers so that every team can register and compete for a place in the RMR tournament.

The main subjects of disputes were inconsistencies with the schedule. In particular, the first open qualifiers for both the Americas and Europe should take place simultaneously with IEM Katowice 2022.

Details of the format and rules for holding RMR tournaments. Large material - close attention.

Any North American team participating in IEM Katowice 2022 could be affected by this schedule, except for FURIA, which has already secured a spot at the RMR tournament. If any other North American team advances to the IEM Katowice 2022 Playoffs, they will miss out on the first of the two available open qualifiers in their region.

The European teams that would miss out on at least one chance to qualify for an RMR tournament if the dates weren't adjusted are OG, BIG, fnatic, Sprout and Wisla Krakow. This is because the initially open qualifiers in Europe are February 19-20 and 26-27, which affects both the IEM Katowice 2022 group stage and the championship playoffs.

Another scheduling issue is related to BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2022, which is scheduled to take place simultaneously with PGL Major Antwerp 2022: European RMR B, i.e. April 21-24. The only team for which this factor will definitely become a problem is NIP, which should play in both tournaments. At the same time, the full list of participants in the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2022 will appear later, and teams such as Gambit, Entropiq, Virtus.pro and Heroic could theoretically suffer.

The most obvious solution to the problem of scheduling duplication is to adjust the dates, and work is rumored to be going on right now to reschedule the first Open Qualifiers in the Americas, thus allowing teams to safely qualify for the IEM Katowice 2022 Playoffs.

At the same time, Graham Pitt, General Manager of Complexity, suggested moving them to the dates of the first two EPL groups (March 12-13 or March 19-20), since teams from the two regions do not participate in the tournament at this time.

As for the clash of the European RMR tournament, there are no other options other than the postponement of the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2022. That being said, BLAST is already working on making adjustments to its schedule.
