The general information
DreamHack Open Winter 2018 will be hosted in Jonkoping, Sweden from December 30 to November 2 and Elmia Convention Center will traditionally be a venue.
The participants of the tournament
Mostly the representative of tier-2 and tier-3 level will take part in the championship: compLexity Gaming, ENCE eSports, G2 Esports, Heroic, Team LDLC, OpTic Gaming, x6tence Galaxy, and Bravado Gaming.
The format
The usual format of a tournament will be used at
DreamHack Open Winter 2018. Teams will be divided into two groups with four participants in each one where will play Bo1 and Bo3 matches by the GSL system. After this, the top two teams from each group will advance to the playoffs and play bo3 matches in a Single Elimination bracket.
The prize pool
The general prize pool of DreamHack Open Winter 2018 will amount $100,000. Teams to leave the competition first will earn $2,000, while teams that finish their participation in the tournament on the 5th-6th place will grab $3,000. Participants, which advance to the playoffs and stop on the 3rd-4th place, will earn $10,000. The vice-champion of DreamHack Open Winter 2018 will receive a money prize in the sum of $20,000 for its efforts. The winner of the competition will become the owner of the main prize in the sum of $50,000.
The coverage of the tournament
Tres “stunna” Saranthus will be the main host if the championship. Jacob “Pimp” Winneche, a professional ex-player, and Sudhen “Bleh” Wahengbam will analyse matches. Such personalities as Conner “Scrawny” Girvan, Mohan “launders” Govindasamy, Hugo Byron, and Niels “rizc” Topp will cast matches.
