General information
DreamHack Open Montreal 2018 will be hosted on September 7-9 and teams that haven’t made it to FACEIT Major: London 2018 will take part in it. The number of participants will amount eight teams and the format will be classic for the DreamHack championship. The prize pool of the tournament will amount $100,000. An interesting feature of the championship is the fact that all teams have received direct invitations and no one had to pass a preliminary qualification.
The format
Eight participants were divided into two groups with four participants in each one. There. they will play matches by the GSL system. The first matches will be hosted in a bo1 format and the last two will be carried out in a bo3 series. The top two teams from each group will advance to the playoffs. Teams, which hold the last places in the groups, will finish their participation in the tournament. The playoffs will be run in a Single Elimination bracket and all matches of the playoff stage will be played in a bo3 format.
The prize pool
The money prize pool of DreamHack Open Montreal 2018 will amount $100,000. The winner will earn the main money prize in the sum of $50,000, while the second team that advances to the final will earn a consolation prize in the sum of $20,000. Teams that place 3rd-4th will receive $10,000. Participants that hold the 3rd place in their groups will earn $3,000 and those who hold the last place in their groups will earn $2,000.
The coverage of the tournament
The rest casters, which are free from work as they haven’t been invited to FACEIT Major: London 2018, will work on the coverage of the championship. Tres “stunna” Saranthus will be the main host. Dustin “DusT” Mouret and Tomi “lurppis” Kovanen will analyze matches. Viewers will watch matches under the comments of such casters as Conner “Scrawny, Girvan, Mohan “Launders” Govindasamy, Niels “rizc” Topp, and Harry “JustHarry” Russell.
