Update From the Rift in Apex Legends S23: What's New?

In Season 23 of Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment introduced the massive "From the Rift" update, bringing significant changes to gameplay and strategic approaches. Players have been drawn to the rework of Lifeline, the introduction of a new game mode, and unique perks for the Support class. Let’s take a closer look at the main updates.
New Limited-Time Mode: “OG Apex Legends Season 1”
The “OG Apex Legends” mode takes players back to 2019, the launch year of Apex Legends. This nostalgic experience includes:
- Original weapons and legend abilities.
- Simplified rules—no EVO shields or skill upgrades.
- Maps from the game’s early days, evoking the spirit of classic battles.
Players can unlock new legends, earn Apex Packs, and receive exclusive rewards by completing objectives in this mode.
Lifeline Rework: “Reviving” the Legend
Lifeline has become a more dynamic combatant with revamped abilities:
- Passive Ability: Combat FlightLifeline can deploy the D.O.C. drone to revive teammates while remaining free to fight. Additionally, she gains a brief gliding ability.
- Tactical Ability: D.O.C. Healing DroneThe drone now automatically heals nearby allies and can follow them.
- Ultimate Ability: D.O.C. HaloThe drone creates a shield that boosts healing speed and item usage, helping the entire team recover quickly during critical moments.
These changes make Lifeline more versatile and indispensable in various scenarios.
Relic Rifts: Risks and Rewards
Relic Rifts, unstable tears in the sky, now appear randomly on the battlefield, offering access to rare items and weapons, including:
- The EPU-1 Launcher, capable of area-of-effect damage.
- Exotic modifications, such as health restoration on hits and armor recovery with each strike.
Rifts are visible to all players, heightening the tension as teams compete for these valuable resources. However, approaching them comes with risks due to the instability of the zone.
New Perks for the Support Class
This season brings a focused update to the Support role:
- Healing Specialist: Support legends move at normal speed while healing.
The efficiency of small healing items is doubled.
- Revival Specialist: Revives allies 25% faster.
Fully restores allies' health upon revival.
These improvements make the Support role even more critical in team-based gameplay.
Cosmetic Updates: “Raptors Claw Heirloom”
Starting November 5, 2024, a new universal melee item, the “Raptors Claw Heirloom”, will be available in the Void Mercenaries store. This item unlocks unique cosmetic items and, after the event, will be purchasable in the Mythic Store.
These are the key highlights of the new patch. Alongside these changes, the developers have balanced agents and weapons, improved visuals, and slightly adjusted the ranked progression system. This extensive update has introduced plenty of exciting new features, making it the perfect time to return to Apex Legends. At the very least, you should try out the nostalgic Classic BR mode, reminiscent of the original Apex Legends experience from 2019.
