The Demon’s Hand LoL New Minigame – How to Play, Overview, Rewards, and Challenges

In Patch 25.06, the developers from Riot Games introduced a new strategic turn-based card game within the client. The Demon’s Hand brings not only new gameplay content but also intriguing lore details. The story allows us to learn more about the demon Atakhan and uncover some hints about LeBlanc’s plans. Additionally, there are rewards awaiting us for completing the game.
How to Play The Demon’s Hand

After launching the game, you will go through a short introduction and the beginning of the story, which you need to complete. Then, you will see a game board displaying a certain amount of health, which depends on your progress in the game.
You will also have 8 cards in front of you, which you will use to play. After each turn, you will draw the necessary number of cards from the deck. The deck consists of 52 cards, allowing you to form various combinations and deal damage to your opponent. You can discard cards up to three times per round, discarding up to five cards at a time. Your damage will depend on the combination of cards you manage to assemble.
The battle continues until you either win or lose, with no time limit. After each victory, you will earn gold, which can be spent on Sigils (rune stones). These will enhance your stats during the game, affecting damage, card draw, card types, round effects, health, and more.
Attacks and Combinations

You attack using the cards in your hand. Each card has a number, which determines its damage, as well as an element (a suit, similar to traditional cards) – Sun, Stone, Moon, and Fire. These elements help you form combinations. Your goal is to assemble the strongest possible combination, as the higher its value, the more damage you will deal.
Types of Attacks:
- Solo — A single high-value card
- Dyad — Two cards of the same rank
- Dyad Set — Two pairs of Dyads
- Triad — Three cards of the same rank
- Tetrad — Four cards of the same rank
- March — Five sequential number cards
- Horde — Five cards of the same suit
- Grand Warhost — Three cards of one rank + two cards of another rank
- Marching Horde — Five sequential cards of the same suit
- The Demon’s Hand — Five highest-value cards of the same suit
These combinations are exactly like poker hands, just with different names. So, if you have experience in poker, you'll find it easy to get the hang of the game. But even if you don’t, it’s not a problem – the game explains everything clearly, and after just a few rounds, you’ll fully understand the mechanics.
Sigils

Sigils are runes of power that you can purchase with gold earned from victories. They can be bought in specific areas scattered along your path. At the beginning, you can store up to 6 Sigils, using them at the right moment. They allow you to experiment with different playstyles and adapt strategies for each opponent.

As mentioned earlier, Sigils enhance your attacks by increasing damage to units or individual cards. They can also heal you, increase the number of cards you can hold, and provide many other benefits.
Some rare Sigils can only be obtained by completing missions or playing League of Legends.
Additional Difficulty Levels
At the start, you begin with the standard difficulty, where the game introduces the story and reveals some lore secrets. However, if you find it too easy, there are options to increase the challenge. These difficulty levels unlock after collecting Rare Sigils:
- Collect 8 Rare Sigils and complete Story Mode to unlock Hard Mode.
- Collect 16 Rare Sigils and complete Hard Mode to gain access to Demon Mode.
- Completing Demon Mode is the ultimate challenge and will reward you with an exclusive icon.
If you enjoy the game as much as I do, I highly recommend increasing the difficulty for extra excitement and better rewards!
Rewards
The mini-game features limited-time missions with exclusive rewards:
- Complete Story Mode — earn an emote and 500 BXP.
- Complete Hard Mode — earn an illustrative icon and 250 BXP.
- Complete Demon Mode — earn the unique The Demon’s Hand icon and 250 BXP.
- Collect all 24 Rare Sigils — earn the title "The Demon’s Hand" and 250 BXP.
As we can see, completing the game grants several Battle Pass levels, along with unique mini-game rewards like the icon and title "The Demon’s Hand," which are only available until the event ends.
Is It Worth Playing The Demon’s Hand?
My personal opinion – yes, it is. Aside from the new gameplay, which offers a break from intense ranked matches, we also get well-deserved rewards for completing it. But the most valuable reward, especially for lore enthusiasts, is the story. It gradually immerses you in the game, revealing unexpected details, and the final twist of the campaign makes it even more engaging.
Riot Games has once again done a fantastic job, delivering unique and exciting content. If you enjoy card games, intriguing stories, and exclusive rewards, The Demon’s Hand is definitely worth trying.
