T1 New ADC: What Do We Know About Peyz

A major piece of news that turned out to be completely unexpected, shocking, and for some people even painful, was Gumayusi’s departure from T1. After winning his third Worlds title in 2025 and being named the Finals MVP, no one saw such a decision coming. And right after the announcement of his departure, it was revealed that T1 had signed Peyz. In this blog, we want to take a closer look at Peyz, compare him to Gumayusi, and try to understand what the future may hold for T1.
T1’s New ADC Peyz - Who He Is, His Victories and Achievements

Peyz made his first appearance on the competitive stage at the age of 15, playing for Gen.G Academy at the LCK Academy August 2020 event. The team only competed once that year and finished 9th–16th. In 2021, he returned to the academy roster and immediately secured two tournament wins - the LCK Academy May Event and the August Event. Later, he was promoted to Gen.G Challengers alongside Lospa.
In Spring 2022, the team failed to reach playoffs, but they showed significant improvement in Summer: finishing 3rd in the regular season and narrowly losing 2-3 to DRX Challengers in the quarterfinals. Even with a 5th-place finish overall, Peyz was selected for the All-CL Team alongside Photon, TolanD, Kabbie from T1 Challengers, and Lucid from DAMWON Challengers.
In 2023, he was promoted to the main Gen.G Esports roster, where he teamed up with Delight, replacing the legendary Ruler, who moved to JD Gaming. Despite the enormous pressure, the refreshed bot lane helped Gen.G secure back-to-back LCK titles in Spring and Summer. At MSI 2023, they finished in 4th place: losing 2-3 to T1 and dropping to the lower bracket, where they were defeated 0-3 by Bilibili Gaming.

As you can see, in just a couple of years this young player has achieved remarkably high results, accomplishments that many veteran pro players never reach. And when it comes to replacing Gumayusi, Peyz fits this role extremely well - both as an urgent replacement and as a long-term investment for the future.
Can the New T1 ADC – Peyz Replace Gumayusi?
League of Legends fans, especially T1 fans, know Gumayusi and all of his accomplishments. A player who, at just 23 years old, managed to reach the very top and become one of only four players in the world to win not just three Worlds titles, but three consecutive World Championships. Despite criticism from fans and even some analysts, year after year Guma proved that he deserved his place under the legendary T1 banner.
THANK YOU, LEE 'GUMAYUSI' MIN-HYUNG
Peyz, in turn, is a very young player who not only managed to compete with professionals at such an early age, but also achieved a great deal. As we know, T1 signed this young talent for a full three years. This is an excellent contract both for the player and for T1. He is only 19 years old, and he has plenty of time to grow. And with such strong teammates and a coaching staff like T1’s, it’s hard to imagine him delivering poor results.
When it comes to team synergy, I don’t think there will be any issues either. Peyz has already shown a high level of play in the LCK and was also able to adapt to the LPL. Even in very challenging circumstances, he continued to perform at a high level against China’s strongest teams.
To sum it up, among all possible options right now, Peyz is the ideal choice for T1. Finding a player who matches Gumayusi’s level, given that he didn’t renew his contract and became a free agent, is incredibly difficult. All we can do now is wish both T1 and Peyz good luck and new achievements in this new chapter.
