Next, let's briefly go over the major upcoming sales on Steam. It's also worth highlighting a few events that might help video game fans expand their libraries without breaking the bank. There are four major seasonal sales: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn.

The Winter Sale is often referred to as the Steam Christmas Sale — it's considered the best one, as it's when most AAA games, regardless of genre, get massive discounts of up to 80–90%.

Next in terms of hype is the Summer Sale, mostly because it's the farthest from Winter on the calendar and is designed to entertain hungry shoppers during the off-season. Valve also tends to host interactive events during the Summer Sale — I still remember the 2014 event, which featured four color-coded teams, and the team that purchased the most games won. That’s marketing genius.

When is the Steam Summer Sale?

Steam Summer Sale 2025 kicks off on June 26 at 18:00 CET and runs until July 10. This is usually the most fun sale outside of the Winter one, not just for the discounts but also for Valve's experiments. Expect flash deals, maybe team-based minigames, and definitely a reward system — Valve loves to toss in a badge or some shiny Steam Points bonus if you buy multiple games with discounts.

Last year's sale had some crazy deals in the "Featured Deep Discounts" section: The Witcher 3 for 3€, Disco Elysium for 4€, Batman Arkham Knight for 2€, and Arma 3 for just 2.79€. You know it's serious when you can pick up a masterpiece for less than a latte.

When is the Steam Halloween Sale?

The Steam Halloween Sale is coming back this year from October 28 to November 1, starting at 18:00 CET. As always, this one's very theme-driven — expect horror games, spooky indies, and anything with a dark, creepy vibe. They’re really good at curating stuff that fits the mood.

In 2024, the Halloween sale had Mortal Kombat 11 for 90% off, the Batman: Arkham Collection for 80% off, and classics like Observer: System Redux and Vampire Survivors at huge discounts. Personally, I finally grabbed Outlast last year during the Halloween Sale — perfect timing for a proper scare session.

When is the Steam Autumn Sale?

This year’s Steam Autumn Sale will run from November 25 to December 1, also starting at 18:00 CET. It’s a bit of a warm-up before the Winter Sale, but still strong on deals — especially if you’re after strategy, indie gems, or games that might’ve slipped under your radar during the summer.

Same as in 2024, the Autumn Sale will also kick off nominations for the annual Steam Awards, which means you'll get a chance to vote on your favorite games while picking up discounts.

Also known as the Steam Christmas Sale, this is the big one. The 2025 Winter Sale starts on December 21 at 18:00 CET and wraps up on January 4, 2026. This is the most generous sale of the year, and nearly every genre gets some kind of love.

Just look at 2024’s lineup: Red Dead Redemption 2 at 70% off, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice at 50% off, and UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves at 60% off. Even newer releases like HELLDIVERS 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 got 20–25% cuts. If you’re building your collection or hunting for AAA hits, this is the sale to wait for.

When is the Steam Spring Sale?

The Spring Sale hits earlier in the year, this time from March 13 to March 20, again starting at 18:00 CET. It’s a bit smaller in scope than Summer or Winter, but still a good chance to pick up recent releases or games that missed out on Christmas buzz. Think of it as your last big chance to clean up your wishlist before the mid-year drought.

Games You Can Snag at a Great Discount on Steam in 2025

One title to keep a close eye on during 2025 discounts is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: The Heart of Chornobyl. By now, the game has been out for over half a year, so a -25% discount (or possibly more) during the autumn or winter sales seems likely.

As for the usual Steam bangers, expect to see some of them hitting -80% off during the Winter Sale: Batman Arkham Series, Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA V, Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3, God of War, DayZ, Death Stranding, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Euro Truck Simulator 2 — all solid picks if you’ve been waiting to fill up your library.

On the other hand, when it comes to newer or niche releases like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Oblivion Remastered, or Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, don’t expect more than -15% off throughout 2025. These are likely to hold their price a bit longer.
