What to Expect from the PUBG Esports World Cup 2025?

To get a clear picture of the competitive landscape at the tournament, it’s enough to take a look at the PGC 2025 – Combined PGS Points standings. Among all the teams in the global rankings and the participants of EWC 2025, there are five squads that truly stand out and are worth keeping an eye on.
- BB Team — 420 Total points
- Freecs — 360 Total points
- 17 Gaming — 340 Total points
- Team Falcons — 300 Total points
- T1 — 120 Total points
BB Team is one of the most decorated squads and a clear favorite heading into the tournament. Their biggest triumph this season was securing 1st place at the prestigious S-Tier PUBG Global Series 8 2025. They also claimed 2nd place at the C-Tier PUBG M5 PRO SERIES 3 and the A-Tier PUBG EMEA Championship: 2025 Spring. The team took 3rd at the B-Tier PUBG Players Tour: EMEA Masters #1, 4th at the B-Tier PUBG Players Tour: EMEA Masters #2 and the S-Tier PUBG Global Series 7 2025, and 5th at the C-Tier PUBG M5 PRO SERIES 2 and the B-Tier Survival Cup #2.
BB Team roster:
The roster has been playing together since early 2024, making only one change with Molodoct joining at the start of 2025—a move that proved to be the right call based on their results.
Although Freecs haven’t competed in a large number of tournaments this season, they’ve made their appearances count. The team claimed 1st place twice—at the B-Tier PUBG WEEKLY SERIES 2025 Cup and the A-Tier PUBG WEEKLY SERIES 2025 Phase 1. They also came just short of victory on two occasions, finishing 2nd at the prestigious S-Tier PUBG Global Series 8 2025 and S-Tier PUBG Global Series 7 2025.
Freecs roster:
- Gyumin
- Heaven
- Salute
- DIEL
This Korean roster has been playing together since 2024, making only one change with the addition of DIEL on January 7, 2025. That move truly revitalized the team, as they began securing top finishes at major tournaments.
Another team well worth following is the Chinese squad 17 Gaming. They have claimed two tournament victories: the B-Tier PCL Preseason x PUBG Salary Cup Season 3 2025 and the prestigious S-Tier PUBG Global Series 7 2025. They also took 2nd place at the A-Tier PUBG Champions League 2025: Spring, 3rd at the B-Tier 2025 PUBG DAIZHU CUP Season 1, and 4th at the B-Tier 2025 PUBG DAIZHU CUP Season 2. In the S-Tier PUBG Global Series 8 2025, the team finished in 10th place.
17 Gaming roster:
The team combines youthful energy with veteran experience. The number of tournaments they play each season is impressive—especially compared to other teams. In 2024 alone, they competed in 22 events, delivering consistently solid results. This wealth of experience could be a major advantage for them at the tournament.
While Team Falcons may not be as decorated, they are undoubtedly strong contenders. Both last season and this year, they have delivered solid performances, making them one of the most dangerous teams in the competition. They claimed 3rd place twice at prestigious S-Tier PUBG Global Series 8 2025 and S-Tier PUBG Global Series 7 2025, earning $20,000 at each event. They also finished 4th in the A-Tier PUBG Americas Series 5, securing $5,000.
Team Falcons roster:
A team built from scratch in January 2025, all players are highly motivated to win, boasting numerous titles and plenty of experience. While a fresh roster can occasionally make misplays, this squad should by no means be underestimated.
The most popular Korean organization in PUBG, T1, has shown solid—though somewhat inconsistent—results this year, which has impacted their position in the global rankings. The team placed 2nd at the B-Tier PUBG WEEKLY SERIES 2025 Cup and also took 2nd at the A-Tier PUBG WEEKLY SERIES 2025 Phase 1. In the S-Tier PUBG Global Series 8 2025, they finished 4th, while in the S-Tier PUBG Global Series 7 2025, they ended up in 17th place. In addition, T1 secured 2nd place at the Esports World Cup 2025: Korea Qualifier, earning a spot at the main event. Last year, they claimed 1st place at the Esports World Cup: Korea Qualifier.
Roster of T1:
T1 has been playing with this roster since mid-2024, making only one change in 2025 by adding Heather. The Korean region is considered one of the strongest in the world, and on international stages, they seem to unlock another level, helping them climb to the very top of tournaments.
This is the current world ranking top and an approximate list of the strongest teams in this event. However, at the EWC, anything can happen, so it’s important not to count out any other squads—especially those from Vietnam. Teams from this region recently claimed victory at the PUBG Nations Cup 2025, so underestimating them would be a serious mistake.
