New League of Legends Champion Zaahen - Release Date, Skill Overview

During the Worlds 2025 Grand Final between T1 and KT Rolster, Riot officially unveiled the new League of Legends champion Zaahen. Along with the announcement, the developers showcased his abilities - and believe me, there’s a lot to talk about.
Zaahen Release Date
The new League champion Zaahen, who will become the 172nd champion in the game, will arrive on Riot Games’ Public Beta Environment (PBE) on November 10, where players will be able to try him out. His official release is scheduled for November 19 at 11 AM PDT, alongside patch 25.23, which will also bring the long-awaited Winter Map to Summoner’s Rift.
Zaahen Skill Overview

Now let’s move on to the overview of the new LoL champion Zaahen’s abilities. Judging by his kit, we’re looking at a powerful top laner who combines initiation, damage, and the ability to soak up tons of hits.
- Passive - Cultivation of War Zaahen’s attacks and abilities grant him stacks of Resolve, increasing his Attack Damage for each stack. When the Resolve bar is full, Zaahen gains bonus Attack Damage and can revive upon taking lethal damage.
- Q - The Darkin Glaive Zaahen slashes his target twice with his next attack, dealing bonus damage and healing himself. He can reactivate the ability to empower his next strike, dealing extra damage and knocking the target up.
- W - Dreaded Return Zaahen impales enemies in the chosen direction, dealing damage and pulling them toward him.
- E - Aureate Rush Zaahen dashes forward and then strikes enemies around him.
- R - Grim Deliverance Zaahen leaps into the air, becoming unstoppable and gaining damage reduction. He then slams into the ground, dealing area damage and healing for a portion of the damage dealt.
Based on what we’ve seen, it’s safe to say that the new League champion is bound to receive some nerfs, as he looks incredibly strong. It’s almost certain that Zaahen will become a meta pick both in solo queue and on the pro scene. He seems like a very comfortable and enjoyable champion to play. And since his release comes at the end of the esports season, he’ll be fully available for competitive play by the winter splits.
Zaahen - Which Lane Will He Be Played On?

As I mentioned earlier, Zaahen will most likely be a top-lane champion. His abilities and overall gameplay clearly highlight his strengths on the top side of the map. Of course, players will experiment with putting him in mid or even jungle, which also looks promising — especially thanks to his Q. The champion is highly mobile, has solid damage, and a powerful ultimate that provides not only burst potential but also survivability in clutch moments. We can’t wait to see him released from testing and try him out in solo queue.
