LoL Server Transfer: How To Change Server In League of Legends

The question How To Change Server In League of Legends can come up for both new and experienced players. Riot Games has many servers around the world, and for various reasons, you might need to switch servers. But is an account transfer League of Legends even possible? In this blog, I’ll explain how to do it and which servers require special conditions in order to play on them.
So How To Change a Server In League of Legends?
In the LoL launcher, the process might seem a bit confusing because it's located in an unintuitive spot. When you open the launcher, you’ll see a gear icon at the top for account settings—but that’s not the one you need, which often causes confusion. First, you need to go to the in-game store, and there you’ll find a second gear icon in the top-right corner of the shop window. That’s where the transfer settings are located.

There, you’ll see the interface that allows you to migrate your LoL account to another server. To transfer your account, simply select the desired server and pay the required amount of RP. The cost may vary slightly depending on your original region.
A small tip—don’t do this unless it’s truly necessary, as switching regions can lead to various issues. The first and most common one is ping—make sure you’ll have a stable and low ping in the new region so the game runs smoothly. Another factor is the language barrier. League of Legends is a team-based game that relies heavily on communication. If winning matters to you, it’s important to understand your teammates, so keep this in mind when considering an account transfer in League of Legends. You can find more detailed information about the servers in my League of Legends Servers Guide, where I cover all available servers and explain the differences between them.
Servers Available for Account Transfer in League of Legends
League of Legends has a total of 16 servers, but only 11 are available for an account transfer in League of Legends. This is due to specific regional policies. If you're located in Europe, you’ll have access to the following servers:
- MENA — Middle East and North Africa
- Western Europe — EU West
- Latin America North — LAN
- Latin America South — LAS
- Oceania — OCE
- North America — NA
- Turkey — TR
- Southeast Asia — SEA
- Japan — JP
- Vietnam — VN
- Taiwan — TW
However, as I mentioned earlier, some servers are not available for a lol transfer account due to various restrictions. For example, you cannot transfer your account to Chinese or Korean servers because these regions operate under separate systems and are isolated from Riot’s global infrastructure.
In China, League of Legends is managed by Tencent, and in Korea — previously by Garena, now by Riot Korea. To play on these servers, you need a local account registered with regional credentials, such as a local phone number or government-issued ID.
This requirement exists to comply with local laws and regulations, including playtime restrictions and age verification. That’s why the standard riot migrate account feature is simply not supported in these regions.
