How To Complete A Toxic Trail in Arc Raiders: Step-by-Step Guide

A Toxic Trail continues the contamination thread introduced earlier in Cold Snap, this time under Shani’s direction. The quest stays contained within Dam Battlegrounds and favors observation over combat. Progress hinges on proximity and correct positioning rather than item collection. Most setbacks come from overlooking trigger zones rather than enemy pressure.

A Toxic Trail Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Shani sends players back into Dam Battlegrounds to trace the source of toxic waste entering the water system. The quest revisits a familiar location from Source of the Contamination, then widens into a short environmental investigation. Objectives remain sequential and do not require extraction between steps. The entire route sits in open terrain, which increases exposure to patrols but keeps navigation simple.

Return to Shani to complete the quest.

The water intake sits directly beneath the Water Treatment control structure and matches the earlier quest location. No interaction prompt appears until standing close to the leaking barrel, which causes confusion if approached from above or at an angle. The game only checks proximity, not line of sight.

The swamp section opens immediately west of the intake. A clearing reveals a rusted truck with multiple barrels stacked on its bed. The photo prompt triggers automatically once close enough, but the final step requires a separate interaction point near the truck’s cab. Leaving without completing that search forces a return trip.

A Toxic Trail rewards the Tactical Mk.2 augment, three Zipline gadgets, three Pulse Mines, and three Gas Mines. The augment slots cleanly into mid-tier builds focused on control rather than burst damage. The gadget and mine bundle supports traversal and area denial in later Cold Snap expeditions.

Arc Raiders Puzzles

The guitar puzzle added with Cold Snap stands apart from standard quest design. Hidden deep within Buried City, it operates on a server-wide state instead of individual progress. Fifteen concealed red buttons across the map emit musical tones and must follow a fixed sequence shown by graffiti near a locked door beside the Red Tower. Any incorrect press by any player resets the entire chain, which turns coordination into the main obstacle. The reward consists of cosmetic guitars and shakers, but the process highlights Arc Raiders’ interest in shared-world problem-solving.

Outside Buried City, Blue Gate holds the highest puzzle density. Ancient Fort requires carrying three batteries into exposed fuse boxes to unlock a basement cache. Raider’s Refuge scatters four rotating red-button switches across church ruins, opening a cellar once all are activated. Reinforced Reception splits into two layers, one following terminal color paths and another unlocking a sealed red room with carried fuzes. Deforester Husk relies on ARC Power Cells to open flame-filled interiors that punish slow routing. Together, these puzzles form repeatable loot paths rather than isolated set pieces, reinforcing Arc Raiders’ emphasis on planning and spatial awareness.
