Freja is shaping up to be a highly mobile, precision-based Damage hero with a skill set built for aggressive ranged combat.

Given her crossbow and aerial abilities, she’ll likely excel at vertical movement, allowing her to reposition quickly and pick off enemies from unexpected angles.

Her kit might include a charged bolt shot for high burst damage, rapid-fire shots for consistent poke, and an aerial dash or double jump to escape pressure.

Freja, the 43rd hero, is set to join Overwatch 2 in April 2025, coinciding with Season 16. A former search-and-rescue operative turned bounty hunter from Denmark, she brings a unique skill set to the game.

Her primary weapon, the Revdraw Crossbow, allows for rapid-fire bolts, while her abilities include Take Aim for high-speed explosive shots, Quick Dash for mobility, Updraft for vertical movement, and Bola Shot to ensnare enemies.
Season 18: Aqua

Aqua, the 44th hero from China, arrives in Overwatch 2 in August 2025 with water-based abilities. Whether as a Support or Tank, he’s set to introduce new sustain mechanics, fluid mobility, and strategic battlefield control. His playstyle could reshape team dynamics with adaptive healing or displacement tactics.
Overwatch 2 Major Updates
New heroes are just a piece of the whole puzzle of major updates — Overwatch 2 Spotlight introduced significant updates for Seasons 15 through 19 — Season 15, launching on February 18, 2025, introduced the Perks system, allowing players to customize hero abilities, and the return of loot boxes with transparent drop rates.
Season 16, starting in April 2025, will debut the "Stadium" mode, featuring 5v5 matches with customizable hero builds and a third-person perspective. Additionally, Season 16 will introduce hero bans in competitive play. Season 17 will bring new Mythic skins, including D.Va's Siberian tiger-inspired skin. Season 18 is expected to introduce new maps and further gameplay enhancements.
