Diablo 4 Season 5 is titled “Season of The Infernal Hordes” and it's not without reason. Along with the new season, a new activity will appear in the game, but the content updates do not end there. Diablo 4 Season 5 “Season of The Infernal Hordes” Release Time

The new season of Diablo 4, Season of The Infernal Hordes, will go live on August 6. To be more precise, on August 6 at 10 a.m. PT.

As usual, to start playing Season of The Infernal Hordes, you will need to complete the main campaign. If you have done this before, you can use the “Campaign Skip” feature and jump straight into the new season's content. Let’s take a closer look at it.

New Diablo 4 Season 5 Activity – The Infernal Hordes

The game mode The Infernal Hordes will be the flagship of Diablo 4 Season 5. In it, you will have to fight against a huge number of hellspawn.

Essentially, The Infernal Hordes mode is a mix of Bullet Hell and Roguelike, fitting well into the concept of Diablo, which already has a vast number of enemies. The Infernal Hordes takes place in several waves, each limited by time. One wave of demonic onslaught lasts 60 seconds.

After each wave, you will be offered an “Infernal Contract,” which in Diablo 4 terms translates to an upgrade of abilities or characteristics. These contracts will help you reach the final wave of The Infernal Hordes and challenge the Infernal Council – the “final boss” of The Infernal Hordes, consisting of three cursed priests with unique abilities.

During The Infernal Hordes, you will earn Burning Aether – the most valuable resource of Hell, where you will fight the demons. Collecting Burning Aether, you can spend it on Hell’s Trophies – luxurious chests containing rare items. One such chest costs 20 units of Fiery Aether, while for 60 units, you can open trophy gear chests, which guaranteed contain items with powerful properties.

How to Play The Infernal Hordes in Diablo 4 Season 5

The Infernal Hordes will become a permanent activity in Diablo 4 alongside Nightmare Dungeons, Pit, and Helltide. It will be available in both the seasonal journey and the eternal realm, but to play, you will need to unlock it by completing a questline.

Additionally, you will have to find the Infernal Compass, which serves as the key to entering Hell. It can be obtained by completing end-game tasks such as clearing the Pit, overcoming Nightmare Dungeons, or crafting it with an occultist using Sigil Power. There is also a 75% chance of obtaining the Infernal Compass from Whisper chests. Moreover, the Infernal Compass is guaranteed to drop when opening Chests of Mystery and Chests of Steel.

Overall, there are 8 levels of the Infernal Compass. The higher the level, the more challenging the battles with demon hordes in The Infernal Hordes mode will be.

New Legendary and Unique Items in Diablo 4 Season 5

Season 5 of Diablo 4 will be one of the richest in new Legendary and Unique Items since the game's release on June 5, 2023. In total, there will be 50 new items, 10 for each of the 5 classes. With the release of the DLC Vessel of Hatred and the new class Spiritborn, the number of new Unique and Legendary items is likely to increase.

Additionally, Uber Unique items have been changed. Now all of them will be called Mythic Uniques and will have a new display when they drop.
