Diablo 4 Season 10 New Mechanic Chaos Rifts Overview

In Diablo 4’s new season — Season of Chaos — players will face a new type of event called Chaos Rifts. By activating them, you’ll fight off waves of monsters and elite enemies while earning seasonal currencies Viz-Jaq'taar Veneration and Infernal Warp, along with a variety of rewards ranging from Obducite to Chaos Armor and even Mythic items. What Are Chaos Rifts?

Chaos Rifts are mini-events that appear in Helltides and Nightmare Dungeons with the Chaotic Rift Dungeon Affix. Completing them rewards players with various loot, including seasonal Chaos Armor. Sealing a rift also grants Chaos Blessings — temporary random effects that stack and apply different types of elemental damage.

How to Find Chaos Rifts

To find Chaos Rifts in new Diablo IV Season 10, all you need to do is open the minimap. They appear on the Helltide overworld as a seasonal icon, while in the world itself they look like interactable hands in the center of a blister. Rifts spawn randomly and fairly often. Nightmare Dungeons with the Chaos Rift Dungeon Affix contain many of these rifts scattered across the map. Certain Chaos Rifts can drop Nightmare Dungeon sigils, which makes target farming them much easier. At pre-Torment levels, these dungeons may also drop a Fleeting Hordes Compass, granting lower-level players access to the Infernal Hordes.

How to Seal Chaos Rifts

Sealing a Chaos Rift is fairly simple: you need to activate the bloody hands on the map, defeat the monsters that appear, and destroy the rift itself. Clearing the surrounding Helltide or Nightmare Dungeon areas of mobs beforehand will make the fight much easier.

Sometimes rifts take the form of familiar world events — for example, transforming into Soulspires that must be activated before elite enemies appear and the event can be completed. In any case, they release purple chaotic monsters and summon elites such as Hellborne, Aether Lords, or Chaos Bringers.

Chaos Rift Rewards

Chaos Rifts are divided by rarity just like equipment: Magic, Rare, Legendary, and the extremely rare Mythic. The higher the Rift’s rarity, the more valuable the rewards. Every Rift always grants Infernal Warp and applies Chaos Blessings to the character.
