Diablo 4 New Season 11 Season Release Date, Changes, Everything We Know

Blizzard is preparing to release a major new DLC, but before that, we’ll be getting a new season filled with numerous changes. In this blog, we’ll go over the key updates coming in the new season and reveal the Diablo Season 11 release date.
Diablo 4 Season 11 Release Date
Season 11 is planned to launch on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM PDT — right after the end of the Infernal Chaos season. Once the exact release time for all regions becomes available, we will update this information in this blog.
Diablo 4 Season 11 New Mechanics
Of course, the new season brings new mechanics with it. The new Diablo Season 11 allows players to modify and enhance their abilities through temporary seasonal power. Below is a list of the new mechanics coming to Diablo IV Season 11, along with a brief explanation for each.
Divine Gifts

Divine Gifts are the new seasonal mechanic of Season 11, and they generally resemble systems from previous updates. However, there is one key difference: Divine Gifts do not directly increase character power but instead boost rewards from specific activities. The mechanic also uses a slot-based system similar to past seasons, yet it differs in how it is activated, the types of bonuses it provides, and how it affects various parts of the game. As a result, open-world content becomes more profitable, and players gain more control over which rewards they want to focus on.
Divine Gifts also grant passive bonuses that work both in combat and outside of it.
Sanctification Gear System

Sanctification is a new seasonal gear-upgrade system that allows players to apply a final enhancement to an item in several possible ways.
This is the last upgrade that can be applied to a piece of gear: once it is blessed by the High Heavens, the item can no longer be modified. Sanctification can provide the following effects:
- Turn an Affix into a Greater Affix
- Apply an additional Legendary Aspect
- Replace an Affix with a random Sanctification Affix
- Add a bonus Sanctification Affix
- Make an item Indestructible
Sanctification serves as the final seasonal step of the Masterworking process. It marks the last stage of an item’s progression: the item receives a small amount of Heavenly power, randomly selected from a predefined pool of upgrades. Once Sanctification is applied, the item can no longer be modified, so all Tempering and Masterworking steps must be completed beforehand.
After defeating a boss, you may receive an opportunity to visit the Heavenly Forge and apply Sanctification to a chosen item.
Lesser Evil Invasion

We will also see new bosses and the content that comes with them. The Lesser Evils have appeared in Sanctuary and now show up across various activities, adding more variety and challenge to the game.
In Helltides, Duriel now replaces the Blood Maiden, making these zones noticeably tougher. Belial awaits players in the Pit of Artificers, increasing the intensity of runs there. Andariel has moved into the Kurast Undercity, adding another challenge to the region. And Azmodan has been added to the roster of World Bosses, giving players a new target to hunt.
Permanent Changes Coming in Diablo 4 Season 11
Most of the features introduced in Season 11 will remain in Diablo 4 for future seasons. As mentioned earlier, Blizzard is preparing for the release of a major new DLC, which will revisit and rework many familiar mechanics. Because of this, the upcoming season can be considered a starting platform for the future of Diablo 4. The following changes will become permanent systems and mechanics moving forward:
Tempering and Masterworking Updates in New Diablo IV Season
Starting with Season 11, the Tempering system now allows you to apply only one Tempering Affix. Instead of choosing from a list of possible options, players can select the exact affix they want to add to their item.
The updated Masterworking system introduces the Quality parameter, which enhances different item stats depending on the equipment type:
- Helmets, chest armor, gloves, pants, and boots receive increased Armor.
- Amulets and rings gain higher Resistances.
- Weapons get increased Base Damage.
Masterworking also no longer increases all affixes by 5% or grants a stronger bonus to a single affix at ranks 4, 8, and 12 as it did previously.
Defensives System Changes
The comprehensive update to defensive mechanics completely overhauls how players build their character’s survivability. Armor, Resistances, Healing, and Fortify now function differently, and Toughness has been introduced as a separate value that reflects overall durability and incoming damage mitigation.
Toughness is a summarized virtual metric that shows how much damage your character can withstand before dying from different damage types. On the character screen, this value appears as an average defense against all damage sources. Hovering over Toughness displays a detailed breakdown of how effective your defenses are against each specific damage type.
Keep in mind that Toughness is not an actual defensive stat on its own; it simply represents your Effective Health Points (EHP) after applying Armor, Resistances, and Maximum Life. It’s a useful tool for comparing different builds quickly, but a high Toughness value does not guarantee survival if one of your key defensive layers is underdeveloped.
New World Boss: Azmodan and Monster Combat System Updates

For the first time since Diablo 4's launch, a new World Boss has appeared in the open world.
Azmodan introduces new mechanics and challenges that will require players to adapt in order to defeat him.
Season 11 also brings large-scale updates to the monster combat system, including increased enemy power, new affixes, and a variety of additional improvements.
Diablo 4 New Season 11 - Season Transition
Season 11 will begin immediately after Season 10 ends. Following Diablo 4’s standard seasonal rules, all existing seasonal characters will be transferred to the Eternal Realm. To access the new season’s features, players will need to create a new character.
All items from Season 10 characters will be moved to a separate Withdraw Only tab in the Eternal Realm stash. Any items not retrieved before the end of Season 11 will be permanently lost.
Of course, these are not all the changes — only the key ones. Soon we’ll take a closer look at each update individually, creating more guides and detailed breakdowns for the new Diablo 4 season.
