CS2 Premier Season 4: Start Date, Changes & What to Expect

Premier Season 3 in CS2 has officially come to an end, paving the way for the launch of Season 4. The new season is expected to begin shortly, with the most likely launch window falling on January 20–21, 2026. While Valve has yet to confirm an exact start time or publish an official in-game announcement, these dates are supported by several community and technical sources.
Release Date of Season 4
At the moment, Valve has not announced an official start date for Premier Season 4 in CS2. There is also no in-game message confirming when the new season will begin.
However, in previous Premier seasons, new seasons usually started almost immediately after the previous one ended. Following the same pattern, Season 4 could begin on January 20–21, 2026, although these dates have not yet been officially confirmed.
What Changes in Season 4

Traditionally, the start of a new season comes with a full rating reset. To regain their Premier ranks, players will need to complete a new set of placement matches.
There will also be a change to the active map pool. Anubis returns after a six-month absence, while Train is being removed. The full Season 4 map pool will be:
- Ancient
- Anubis
- Dust II
- Inferno
- Mirage
- Nuke
- Overpass
In addition to ranking and map rotation updates, Season 4 may include minor weapon balance tweaks, server optimizations, and further efforts to improve match integrity and anti-abuse systems. However, no major mechanical changes are expected at this time.
What Season 4 Means for Players
Regardless of playstyle, Premier Season 4 will affect every CS2 player. With the rating reset, everyone will face placement matches, making this an ideal moment to prepare for Anubis and the rest of the active map pool—and to secure a strong rank early.
The season launch also coincides with major LAN events, including IEM Kraków 2026, which will immediately raise the overall level of competition. Some early matchmaking instability is possible, but this period also offers the best opportunities for rapid improvement, rating progression, and overall skill growth.
The Importance of Season 4 for CS2 Players

Premier Season 4 in CS2 is more than just another rating reset. It highlights the direction Valve plans to take CS2 in 2026—focusing on stable balance, a well-considered map pool, and a stronger connection between ranked play and the professional scene.
In many ways, this season sets the pace for the entire competitive year. For players, it’s a prime opportunity to get into form quickly, establish a solid rank, and make a strong start at the very beginning of 2026.
