VCT 2021: Stage 2 Masters - Reykjavík will do without a new map
/Upcoming VCT 2021: Stage 2 Masters - Reykjavík will do without the new Breeze map. The developers decided to remove the map from the map pool after a meeting with professional players.
After consulting with professional players from all over the world, we decided to exclude Breeze from the map rotation at Masters Reykjavik for the benefit of the competitive component of VALORANT. Given the ongoing playoffs in the Challengers series and the time it will take for teams to get to Reykjavik, four weeks will be too short for tournament participants to explore the new map.
As a reminder, Breeze was first introduced on April 28th along with patch 2.08. Note that the last change to the map pool is dated October last year, when the Icebox map was added by the developers.
With the removal of Breeze from the active map pool in Iceland, the following maps will be introduced: Haven, Bind, Split, Ascent and Icebox.
VCT 2021: Stage 2 Masters - Reykjavík will take place from 24 to 30 May in Iceland. Ten teams from all over the world will compete for an undisclosed prize pool. At the moment, the names of seven participants in the championship are known: Version1, Sentinels, Team Liquid, Fnatic, NUTURN Gaming, Crazy Raccoon and X10 Esports.
