Moist Esports withdrew from Gamers8 2022
/The Moist Esports team has decided to withdraw from the Gamers8 2022 championship. The club explained its decision due to the infringement of LGBTQ+ rights in the host country of the tournament, Saudi Arabia.
Moist Esports does not want to cooperate or interact in any way with a country where "LGBTQ+ representatives are not considered as people." The squad is not ready to exchange their moral principles for money.
Recall that Moist Esports has become one of several invited teams to the championship. In addition, the English team recently became the winner of the Rocket League Championship Series 2021-22 - Spring Split Major, having outplayed Team Falcons in the grand final.
The current Gamers8 2022 lineup is as follows: G2 Esports, FaZe Clan, Gaimin Gladiators, FURIA Esports, Renegades, Orlando Pirates Exdee, Endpoint CeX, Dignitas, Spacestation Gaming, Complexity Gaming, AllMid, Rogue, Guild Esports, HEET, SMPR Esports, Luminosity Gaming, Team Falcons, F16 Esports, 01 Esports and OWL Esports.
Gamers8 2022 itself will take place from July 14 to 17 in Riyadh at the Riyadh Boulevard site. As part of the championship, participants from all over the world will compete for a prize pool of $2,000,000.
Note that a little earlier, gaming equipment brand ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) announced a partnership agreement with the Saudi eSports Federation to sponsor the upcoming Gamers8 charity championship series.
