Highlights of LJL Summer 2023

The final LJL tournament of the 2023 season will be held in Japan from June 10 to August 20. As before, the tournament will feature 8 representatives from the local scene.

DetonatioN FocusMe retained the title of reigning champions and they are also the main contenders to win the LJL 2023 summer split and a trip to South Korea.

Before that, however, DFM need to win LJL Summer 2023, the finals of which will be held at the arena. The final matches will be hosted on the Makuhari Messe stage in Tokyo.

Form of LJL Summer 2023

The LJL Summer 2023 tournament follows the usual scenario for the series' events. The championship is divided into several stages: group stage and play-offs.

• LJL Summer 2023 group stage: Tournament runs from 10 June to 16 July 2023 in five rounds (weeks)

The group stage is played in a classic Riot tournament format - Single Round Robin. Each of the 8 participants will play 7 matches (each against each other) in a bo3 format.

The specificity of the LJL Summer 2023 group stage is the distribution of the championship play-offs. All of the summer split qualify for the play-offs with the difference in seeding: The top four teams will play in the top section of the main stage, the others in the bottom section of the play-offs.

• LJL Summer 2023 play-offs: takes place from July 29 - August 20 (4 rounds and final)

The LJL Summer 2023 main stage takes place in a "hybrid" Double Elimination format. The first round between group stage places 5-8 is played until one win. Starting from the second round, the Long Playoffs are played in classic Double Elimination format.

All play-offs matches are played to 3 wins (bo5). The winner of LJL Summer 2023 goes to Worlds 2023.

Where to watch LJL Summer 2023

The matches are organised and broadcast by Riot Games Japan. Unlike most regional leagues, LJL Summer 2023 will have one studio covering the event - the Japanese studio.
