Match Prediction: Rogue - Excel Esports | LoL
LEC Summer 2022 - Group StageGreetings to all League of Legends esports fans! At EGamersWorld, together we continue to analyze the events of LEC Summer 2022 and make our predictions. Let me remind you that this is the largest League of Legends tournament in Europe, and €200,000 EUR and three places at Worlds 2022 are at stake.
Rogue vs Excel
Will XL continue to score further, or will Rogue stagnate them like G2?
On the one hand, we have the top League of Legends team throughout Europe, which has been proving its superiority at the LEC for several years now and has been qualifying for the world championship for 2 years in a row. In the other corner of the ring, there is an average LEC team, however, big changes have taken place in the organization and now they are making a fuss around themselves, breaking even the top teams.
Shape Rogue
Rogue is one of the three main favorites and contenders for leadership in this tournament. Those who are rightfully called the main rival of G2 Esports.
The guys took first place in the group stage of the LEC Spring 2022 and lost to G2 only in the final of the playoffs, with a score of 0:3. Before that, they also took the championship at LEC Summer 2021 in groups and performed well at the Worlds of that year.
In the spring, we saw an updated roster from the team, which was quite an expected move on their part. After all, Rogue constantly lacks the strength for the “last push” to finish the European playoffs in order to show itself better in world tournaments. New jungler Malrang straight from South Korea who will bring new experience to the team and ADC from Greece Comp.
So far, they have lost two games to Fnatic with G2 and almost let go of the game with MAD, but they are going quite confidently against weaker teams with a score of 3-2 in matches.
A very strong team that does not let go of the mistakes of its opponent and is good at team battles. But there is a problem that they can get lost when they impose their own pace of the game.
Compound:
- Odoamne - top laner
- Malrang - forester
- Larssen - mid laner
- Comp - bot laner
- Trymbi - support
Excel Form
To say that Team XL didn't surprise anyone at the start of this split would be a complete lie. If only they managed to finish the game with G2, then everyone would now call them local “killers of kings”.
As many of the commentators and analysts have noticed, their game in the spring and now are two huge differences. Starting from the LEC Spring 2022, where they showed themselves to be average, the players trained hard and managed to play together for a year.
The trainers of YoungBuck and Nelson also did a lot of work, obviously having earned their fee. Judging by the team play XL - they did a phenomenal preparation of macro play and control over the entire map.
They are 4-1 in meetings, losing only once to G2. And then, in that map, I sin more on the draft, which they gave to their opponent. Otherwise, Excel does a good job of setting the pace of the game and defeating the favorites.
Compound:
- Finn is a top laner
- Markoon - forester
- nukeduck - mid laner
- Patrik - bot laner
- Mikyx - support
Meeting history
Considering Rogue's dominance in the last split, it's not surprising that most of the last matches went to them.
Rogue 1:0 Excel – LEC Spring 2022 Group Stage
Rogue 1:0 Excel – LEC Spring 2022 Group Stage
Rogue 1:0 Excel – LEC Summer 2021 Group Stage
Rogue 1:0 Excel – LEC Summer 2021 Group Stage
Rogue 0:1 Excel – LEC Spring 2021 Group Stage
And the overall statistics of the meetings come down to 12 RGE wins, while XL has only 3 wins. But I want to remind you that the latter recently defeated Fnatic with which the statistics were 13 losses to 1 win.
Match outcome
One of the most interesting matches of this week, but the result here will not be easy to predict. I think it's 50% to 50%. Or Rogue win even at the draft stage and stop Excel in a “slow eSports” manner. Or XL themselves with a good draft set their pace for the game and make another victory against the favorite. But still, I think that they learned from the draft against G2 and will show us something interesting.
Outcome: Excel will win
