The Mid-Season Invitational 2023 is the 8th tournament in the MSI series held by Riot Games every year after the Spring Splits in the regular seasons. The MSI 2023 tournament features the top teams from 9 competitive regions for the semester.
In 2023 MSI 2023 will be hosted by the capital city of the United Kingdom, London. The tournament will take place from May 2 to 21 at the Cooper Box Arena.
In 2023, the MSI 2023 LoL esports tournament series will receive a global format update. For the first time ever, the Mid-Season Invitational will play a Double-Elimination grid and will also visit Great Britain for the first time.

Mid-Season Invitational 2023 highlights
MSI 2023 is the first major international LAN tournament in 2023. The tournament will feature inter-regional play between the top contenders from 9 regions: LPL, LCK, LEC, LCS, PCS, VCS, LJL, CBLoL and LLA.
The Mid-Season Invitational 2023 will take place in May this year. LoL matches of event will be hosted in the UK capital, London, and the venue will be the Cooper Box Arena, with a capacity of over 7,000 spectators.
The MSI 2023 participants will be determined by regional performances. The tournament will feature spring split champions in LEC, LPL, LCS, CBLOL, LJL, LLA, VCS and PCS. Additional slots will be awarded to the Majors: LCK, LPL, LEC and LCS. Thus there will be 13 participants.
Due to the state of affairs in the international arena, two teams from South Korea will go straight to the playoffs of the tournament. The first team to qualify for the tournament was G2 Esports.
The MSI tournament has a prize pool of $250,000. The distribution and the prize pool will be announced by Riot Games before the tournament starts.
Form of MSI 2023
The main change for the 13th edition of League of Legends will be a new format compared to MSI 2023. At the Mid-Season Invitational 2023, for the first time in history, Double-Elimination will be played.
The championship will start with the Play-In phase. There will be 8 teams in the Double-Elimination, with a maximum of 3 matches. The final of the lower net is played until 3 wins (bo5), with 3 teams qualifying for the play-offs.
In the main Mid-Season Invitational 8 teams play. The final round is played as Double-Elimination, and all main stage matches are played until 3 wins (bo5).
