Biography Eurus
Zhang «Eurus» Chengjun is a professional Dota 2 player, one of the brightest representatives of the new school in Dota. His career began in 2015 and since then he has earned a title of one of the best performers in the region and the world. Let us introduce Eurus's road to the esports top.
Beginning of Career
As the majority of esportsmen, Eurus had started way to the top of the Olympus long before he joined a professional organization. Eurus fell for competitive games in his early childhood. Consequently, it helped him to build a successful career as a professional player.
Eurus started with the first version of Dota but he moved to Dota 2 fast. The first club where Eurus tried himself as an esportsman was Immortal Magneto Gaming. He played for the team from June till September 2015. However, the gamer could not achieve any worthy results. While playing for Immortal Magneto Gaming, the roster did not play at any official tournament.
Even though there was not much practice, it was enough for Eurus to level up. In September 2015, he became a player of Team FanTuan. As part of the team, Eurus tried to make it to some prestigious tournaments like The Frankfurt Major 2015, StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 1, and The Shanghai Major 2016. But their luck was bad. In January 2016, Eurus joined Invictus Gaming.
Invictus Gaming, IG.Vitality and First Success
Moving to the champion organization, Eurus began to play at more prestigious tournaments. Despite the fact that he could not show outstanding results, the gamer got some experience of playing the best teams in the region. Shortly after that, Eurus joined IG.Vitality
While playing for IG.Vitality, the most successful championships for the gamer were VPGame Pro League Season 2, WCA2016 CN Qualifiers S2, and World Cyber Arena 2016 where the team took first place.
Also, as part of IG.Vitality, Eurus played at The International#7 which was the first world championship in his career. However, the team failed their performance at the championship, they took 13-16 place. The International 2017 was the last tournament for Eurus as a representative of Invictus Gaming, right after the championship, the gamer moved to another titled club in China – ViCi Gaming.
ViCi Gaming and Elephant.4AM
When the gamer became a member of ViCi Gaming in September 2017, Eurus climbed a higher level of gaming. However, his first results appeared in 2018.
In February 2018, the team took second place at ESL One Katowice 2018, and three months later, they got placed on third position at MDL Changsha Major. Then they faced a streak of bad luck: 10-12 place at ESL One Birmingham 2018, 5-6 at China Dota2 Supermajor.
However, at the upcoming TI2018 the team was treated as a favourite by the analysts. Nevertheless, ViCi were unable to climb higher than 9-12 place.
The next season did not kick off successfully. 7-8 place at The Kuala Lumpur Major, the same result at The Chongqing Major. ViCi managed to change the trend only in March 2019 when they won the eleventh season of DreamLeague. In May, Eurus and his team took 7-8 place at MDL Disneyland Paris Major, and in June they finished at first place of EPICENTER Major 2019. Right before the TI9, the team again is holding a status of one of the contenders for victory.
At TI itself, the team took 5-6 place which became the best result in Eurus’ career.
The next season starts with confident victories. The team won Midas Mode 2 – Asia, World Electronic Sports Games 2019 China – Eastern Circuit, took second place at MDL Chengdu Major and also triumphed at ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational Singapore.
2020 started with the third place at DreamLeague Season 13 and the second position at China Dota2 Professional League Season 1. In May 2020, Eurus and the team became champions at OGA Dota PIT 2020 Online: China, and in June-July they won second place at BEYOND EPIC: China and OGA Dota PIT S2: China. The last tournament for Eurus as a ViCi gamer was DPL-CDA Professional League Season 2.
