Richard «shox» Papillon is a vet of the competitive CS stage. In his long career, the gamer won numerous prestigious tournaments including a world championship. Richard is one of the strongest representatives of the old school of the French CS that has been performing on the international arena since 2006. Start of Career
shox set off his journey to the big esports when he played computer games for the first time. He has been spending a lot of time in front of a screen since his childhood. He mostly played competitive games. One of them was Counter-Strike.
In 2006, shox got to his first team –TuRTLe. We should mark that he set off with Counter-Strike: Source. In this version of the game, shox played for more than ten games. Among them, there were redLine, Creativ`, emuLate! VeryGames, Nameless, Team ROCCAT, hf.MOTHER, Team LDLC.com, 3DMAX, Tt.Dragons, and Anexis Esports. Their biggest success happened in VeryGames.
With VeryGames, shox won almost all CS:Source prestigious tournaments. He became the champion at EMS:Season VIII – Finals, EPS France: Season X – Finals, ESWC 2011.
In 2012, shox moved to a new version of the game – Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
The first club for shox in the new version of the game was Epsilon eSports. There the gamer spent only several weeks and then joined Millenium. But this club did not become a new home for shox. Having played there for 2 months, the gamer left the team.
In November 2012, he passed to JAS but in December shox moved to Imaginary Gaming. Later there was an attempt to return to JAS but it was not crowned with success.
VeryGames and First Success
In April 2014, shox moved to TCM-Gaming but left the club one month later, The next stop for the gamer was VeryGames. There he partially managed to repeat the previous results when he became the champions at ESL Major Series One – Summer 2013, StarLadder StarSeries VII, ESL Major Series One – Fall 2013 and took 3-4 place at DreamHack Winter 2013.
After several considerable results, shox became one of the most high-demand players in the European region. It is no surprise that there was a team that was eager to play with the gamer several days after he left VeryGames. It was Titan
In Titan Esports, shox played 3 months. He and the team failed at ESL Major Series One Katowice 2014, taking there 9-12 place. Richard was not satisfied with this result, so he continued to look for the team that can help him become a champion again.
In May, he became a gamer at Clan-Mystik but left the club in that month. In June 2014, shox moved to Epsilon eSports but the gamer was unable to repeat the previous results. In September the player joined Mercenary but two days later left the roster.
In that month, shox became the gamer of Team LDLC.Com
LDLC.com and First Official World Championship
Having become a gamer in LDLC.com, shox moved to a new level of his own performance. He was in his best shape and it helped LDLC become a Tier-1 team. In the club, shox won StarLadder StarSeries XI and took 3-4 place at FACEIT League – Season 2, ESWC 2014 and Fragbite Masters Season 3. In November, there was a turning point in shox’s career. LDLC became an official world champion having won DreamHack Winter 2014. After that the team won FACEIT G2A.com I Europe and MLG X Games Aspen Invitational.
Richard left LDLC as a winner. The next club for the gamer was the organization Team EnVyUs. He played for EnVyUs in the period from February 2015 till July of the same year. It was impossible to repeat the LDLC’s results. The most successful tournament for shox as part of EnVyUs might be Gfinity Masters Summer 1 where the team took first place.
In July, shox again moved to Titan but spent there only five months. In this time, he did not manage to achieve any significant result.
In February 2016, shox became a G2 Esports gamer. In G2, he managed to win several prestigious championships like Esports Championship Series Season 1 – Finals, ESL Pro League Season 5 – Finals, DreamHack Masters Malmo 2017, and Good Game League 2019. Also shox in G2 took second place at ESL Pro League Season 3 – Finals and ELS Pro League Season 9 – Finals.
In September 2019, shox left the team and joined Team Vitality
Team Vitality and Individual Achievements
Having become a member of Team Vitality, in September 2019, shox managed to win one offline tournament. That was EPICENTER 2019 in December 2019. When the gamers started to play online, the team managed to win BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 European Showdown and also take second place at BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 European Finals, cs_summit 6 Online; Europe and ESL One: Cologne 2020 Online – Europe.
In his long career, Shox managed to make it to Top-15 according to HLTV four times. He took third place in 2013, eighth in 2014, thirteenth in 2015, and sixth in 2016. He is one of six gamers that played at all Major CS:GO tournaments. In his career, shox has already earned over 604,000 dollars of grabs.
