Chris «chrisJ» de Jong is one of the best representatives of the Dutch Counter-Strike school. Chris is a vet of the competitive stage and one of the most devoted gamers that has been performing for a club for over seven years. Let us introduce chrisJ and his way of development as an esportsman.
Beginning of Career
As the majority of esportsmen, chrisJ started his career long before joining a professional organization. Since his early age, Chris spent a lot of time in computer clubs. There he showed a huge interest in competitive games, especially Counter-Strike. That was the discipline that consequently helped him to build quite a successful career.
The first club where chrisJ performed was the team Karont3 e-Sports Club. He played there from 2011 till 2012. Then it was the 1.6 version. chrisJ could not achieve any success but playing for Karont3 gave him some experience. When there was a release of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the gamer changed the discipline and started to play the new version of the game.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
The first CSGO club for chrisJ was the club ChillTeam. The gamer spent there several months in 2012 and left the team in October in the same year. The next stop for chrisJ was the club LowLandLions where the gamer played from October 2012 till May 2013. As in the case with ChillTeam, this attempt was not really fruitful for Chris. He performed at unknown championships and small leagues which did not satisfy the gamer’s ambitions.
In May 2013, chrisJ moved to n!faculty where he spent only two months. In July 2013, the gamer moved to Playing Ducks where he played for two months and in September 2013, the gamer became a member of PartyDaddlers to leave the team one month later.
In October 2013, chrisJ moved to mousesports
Mousesports and Individual Achievements
His transfer to mousesports became a crucial twist in his career. But it was not going smoothly at the beginning.The first period of performing for the team that lasted three years could hardly be called successful.
In 2013, mousesports performed at weekly championships that did not bring any splendid result. They won на ESL Pro Series Germany: Winter 2013 – Cup/3 but later the gamers failed ESL Major Series – Fall 2013. The same year brought the gamers a victory at ESL Pro Series Germany: Winter 2013.
2014 did not make any change in his career. chrisJ’s team continued playing at local championships where the gamers showed themselves in a great way. Mousesports quickly became the best team in Germany. In 2014, chrisJ visited his first Major – ESL Major Series One Katowice 2014. Unfortunately, the team was unable to offer a battle to the opponents there and got kicked off the championship on 13-16 place. In the same year, the team won some other small tournaments.
In 2015, the team played at two world championships. At ESL One: Cologne 2015, the team took 13-16 place and at DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca 2015, the gamers finished in 9-12 position. In the same year, the team managed to take second place at CEVO Season 8 Professional.
In 2016, mouseports headed by chrisJ again performed at two world championships. The first one was MLG Major Championship: Columbus 2016 which resulted in 9-12 place for the team. The second one was ESL One: Cologne 2016 where the team also got placed on 9-12 position. 2017 turned out to bring more success to the gamer.
In 2017, chrisJ and his team took first place at EGS Tour Mykonos 2017 and second place at Esports Championship Series Season 4 – Finals.
In February 2018, the team won StarLadder & i-League StarSeries Season 4 and one month later the gamers became the winners at V4 Future Sports Festival – Budapest 2018.
In September 2018, chrisJ and his team won one of the most prestigious tournaments – ESL One: New York 2018. Later the team’s results declined but one year later the gamer started to show the same results as they used to.
In November 2019, the team took first place at CS:GO Asia Championships 2019 and one month later the roster won ESL Pro League Season 10 – Finals and cs_summit 5. Also, in December 2019, chrisJ’s team took second place at EPICENTER 2019. The last great results for mousesports was a victory at ICE Challenge 2020 in February 2020. In his long career, chrisJ managed to earn over 577,000 dollars.
