Such famous companies as ESL and ESEA have become organizers of the tournament. ESL is famous for hosting lots of tournaments with big prize pools. With regard to ESEA, they are famous for creating their own league and hosting its large LAN finals.
Such companies as Intel, Betway, TRTO, NVIDIA, LEGION by Lenovo, XFINITY, paysafecard, Logitech G, Mountain Dew League, ESEA, DBLTAP and YouTube are the sponsors of the tournament with a prize pool in the sum of $750,000.
A prize pool
The general prize pool amounts $750,000. The winner of the tournament will earn the main monetary prize in the sum of $225,000. The vice-champion will receive $100,000 and the bronze medalist will earn $60,000. 12 teams will take part in the distribution of a prize pool: there will be 6 best teams from the European division and 6 best teams from North America.
The format of the tournament
Teams will play bo1 matches by a Round Robin system in the group stage. A team will earn 3 points for a victory in the regular match. If a match lasts until overtimes, 3 points will be divided among teams. The winner of a match will earn 2 points and the loser will receive only 1 point. According to results of the group stage, 3 teams to hold the highest places in their groups will get to the playoffs of the tournament and start their participation in the semi-final. Teams to hold the 2nd and the 3rd places in groups will go to the quarterfinal. The quarterfinal and semi-final matches will be run in a bo3 format and the grand final will be hosted in a bo5 one.
Intel Grand slam
This tournament relates to the tournaments in Intel Grand Slam series. Starting from ESL One Cologne, the team to win four events by ESL will earn the pleasant bonus in the sum of $1,000,000. There is no team at the moment that has achieved at least two victories at the tournaments by ESL. SK Gaming prevailed at ESL One Cologne 2017, G2 Esports won DreamHack Masters Malmo 2017, FaZe Clan dominated at ESL One New York 2017 and Ninjas in Pyjamas achieved victory at IEM XII — Oakland.
