New Gems in PoE 2 Patch 0.3.0
Let’s start with the brand-new gems coming to the game, and afterwards take a closer look at the major rework of the old ones.
Name | Gem Type | Attribute | Effect |
Fortifying Cry | Skill Gem | Strength | Warcry that grants Guard. Shield Attacks release an empowered shockwave. Cooldown can be bypassed by expending an Endurance Charge. |
Forge Hammer | Skill Gem | Strength | Throws a fiery hammer that lodges in the ground. Reusing recalls it. Warcry near the hammer shatters it, creating Molten Fissures in a spiral. |
Ancestral Cry | Skill Gem | Strength | Warcry turns you into an embodiment of Kaom. Footsteps trigger Volcanic Steps, melee Strikes and Slams are ancestrally boosted, and melee Hits trigger Volcanic Eruption. |
Toxic Domain | Skill Gem | Dexterity | Creates an area of Toxic Bloom. Inside it, Skill costs increase, you regenerate Life, and Projectile Attacks apply Toxic Pustules that explode after duration or enough Poison. |
Ice-Tipped Arrows | Skill Gem | Dexterity | Empowers your next Bow or Spear projectile attack to create Ice Fragments on hit. Cooldown can be bypassed by expending a Frenzy Charge. |
Frost Darts | Skill Gem | Intelligence | Launches icy projectiles. Hitting Chilled or Frozen targets creates ice chunks that deal damage on impact. Consumes Cold Infusion to make projectiles lodge and explode. |
Iron Ward | Persistent Buff | Strength | Stores a portion of prevented Physical Damage. Activating releases it as a nova of spikes. |
Mortar Cannon | Persistent Buff | Strength/Dexterity | Raises a cannon Totem that uses socketed Grenade Skills with faster cooldown recovery. |
Mirage Archer | Persistent Buff | Dexterity | Dodge rolling creates a Mirage that uses socketed ranged Attacks briefly. Cannot summon a new Mirage until the previous one vanishes. |
Ravenous Swarm | Persistent Buff | Intelligence | Summons untargetable insect swarms that pursue, attack, and Poison enemies nearby. |
Siphon Elements | Persistent Buff | Intelligence | Has a chance to create an Infusion Remnant when you Freeze, Shock, or Ignite a target. |

Support Gem System Overhaul

With Patch 0.3.0, the developers have decided to completely rethink how the Support Gem system works, fixing old limitations and adding new possibilities.
Removal of Restrictions
Previously, players could only use one Support Gem of each type on a character. This restricted build variety and forced the use of a limited set of the most powerful supports. Now this restriction has been removed: you can use multiple copies of the same Support Gem, making builds more flexible and diverse.
Tiered Support Gems
Many Support Gems now have multiple tiers. With each new tier they can grant different numerical bonuses, additional properties, or even slightly change how they work. This expands the options for gradually strengthening a character. Existing Support Gems are now considered Tier 1. Some of them have received small balance adjustments, while certain effects have been combined into a single gem.
New and Unique Supports
The patch adds 11 new Support Gems. In addition, a special endgame feature has been introduced — Lineage Supports. There are 40 of these gems, and they are significantly more powerful than normal ones. Their use will become an important element of endgame content and high-level character progression.
Renames and Balance Adjustments
Some Support Gems with simple effects have been renamed so their names more clearly reflect their mechanics. At the same time, the developers have removed the ability to engrave Blood in the Eyes, Discombobulate, Unsteady Tempo, Unbating, Unbending, Untouchable, and Unyielding in the Gemcutting menu. Existing versions of these gems will be automatically deleted upon login.
Other adjustments include:
- Support Gems that add a cooldown to a skill now correctly display its value. A bug was found in Expanse Support — the actual cooldown was 6 seconds instead of 8. Now the value has been corrected.
- The description of Last Gasp Support has been clarified: supported minions die before the support’s duration ends if they take damage exceeding their maximum life while fatally wounded.
- The description of Muster Support has been clarified: it now specifically refers to the number of different reviving minions.
Restrictions and Bug Fixes
The interaction rules between Support Gems and skills have also been updated:
- Supports that apply only to skills “used by you directly” can no longer support persistent skills. The exception is skills that have both a persistent and a manually activated component (for example, Plague Bearer).
- A bug has been fixed that allowed such Supports to apply to totem or triggered skills. Now this is possible only if explicitly stated.
- If a skill has socketed Support Gems for which the player does not meet attribute requirements, now only those Supports are disabled, rather than the entire skill.
New Terminology
Finally, a small change that affects only names: the Lightning/Cold/Fire/Chaos Infusion Support Gems have been renamed to Lightning/Cold/Fire/Chaos Attunement to better reflect their mechanics.
