Why Is Overwatch Dropping The "2"?

The Overwatch 2026 Season 1 starts the new era on February 10. It initiates the Reign of Talon story arc, introducing a wealth of content all at once. This first season establishes the year-long narrative and includes a competitive rank reset for all players.

Information on Overwatch 2026 Season 2 indicates a spring release. The number of new heroes will decrease to one per season starting now. The season is centered around a major milestone for the franchise.

A related short story titled "Vested Interest" details a tense meeting between Vendetta and the omnic Maximilien. In the story, Maximilien offers Vendetta a data chip containing information on Talon's inner circle in exchange for a seat at her new table.
