Bogdan LashchenkoThe Global Esports Federation (GEF) has disclosed details of the inaugural running of the Global Esports Tour. The Federation also named FACEIT as a strategic partner. Moreover, it revealed that the tour would be held across Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, PUGB: Mobile, and Hearthstone. The tour includes three tournaments hosted in Los Angeles, Riyadh, and Dubai. Global fans of Betway eSports online betting will have additional events to wager on. GEF Will Team Up With FACEIT
Currently, eSports enjoys plenty of attention and participation globally. This is partly because the industry has exponentially grown in the last ten years and now boasts a massive audience.
GEF Vice President Chester King, who is also the co-chair of the Technical, Standards, and properties Commission, made several pronouncements during the statement's release. First, he reiterated that GEF was proud to work with FACEIT to develop its strategies for eSports globally.
Apart from that, he also mentioned that the Federation was looking forward to staging the Global Esports Tour in renowned cities globally. FACEIT will team up with the Federation to produce all the three stages taking place as part of the Global Esports Tour.
The tour kicks off on September 27th and goes on for two months. So, eSports betting fans on Betway will have plenty of action to wager on. Besides the prize pool, GEF revealed that it would commit an additional 500,000 USD to its Global Social Impact initiatives. The initiatives comprise a wide range of social programs that serve the global eSports community.
On the other hand, FACEIT co-Founder and Chief Business Officer Michele Attisani claimed that it was exciting to work with GEF in building the Global Esports Tour. He also added that FACEIT's ambition is to build a better gaming ecosystem that offers gamers and the community more opportunities. As a result, he believes that hosting the GET is one more step in the right direction for the eSports industry.
Esports insiders claim that it will be interesting to see the GEF after establishing a wide-ranging portfolio of partners and members. The insiders also agree with GET's timing which coincides with the return of the demand for live events. Additionally, they argue that, with FACEIT running the tournament's operations, the GET could prove to be a welcome addition to the events calendar of eSports. Moreover, eSports bettors on Betway will be looking forward to this event for a chance to put their betting skills to practice.
Massive Viewership is a Plus
Esports viewership has been growing over the years. Currently, studies suggest that its viewership has hit 458.8 million people around the world. This figure translates to a 15% increase year over year.
For example, the League of Legends World Championship of 2019 broke the viewership record. Reports suggest that the event attracted over 100 million viewers globally. Additionally, the majority of these viewers accessed the event through streaming platforms like YouTube and Twitch.
These numbers suggest that only the Super Bowl has drawn more viewers than the eSports event. The GET organizers will hope that they can significantly beat the 2019 numbers now that the industry has continued to grow.
