Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 review: release date, new mechanics, battle pass

Epic Games has unveiled another update for Fortnite, one of today's most popular games. The new version of the game is called Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. Previously we've written about the major character changes in the recent Dota 2 patch. Below are all the new features that Fortnite fans will be getting in the second season of the fourth chapter.

Release Date

The new season in Fortnite is scheduled to be released today, March 10th. Players have already started receiving the update. Below is an approximate timeline for when the new content will be available in various time zones:

• 1:00-4:00 PM PST for the West Coast of North America
• 4:00-7:00 EST for the East Coast of North America
• 10:00 - 13:00 CET for Western Europe/Paris
• 9:00 - 12:00 GMT for the UK
• 15:00 - 18:00 JST in Japan/Tokyo.

Season 2 was originally expected to be released a few days earlier, on March 8th.

New mechanics, new map, new weapons

Traditionally, the developers from Epic Games will please us with an update on the gameplay mechanics. A new motorbike Victory Crown Rogue has been added to the game, which boasts the possibility of rapid acceleration. From cars we can see Nitro Drifter, that can drift with a handbrake.

Also the creators of Fortnite have updated the game map. The following locations have been added:

• Mega City
• Sakura village
• Raceway
• Landscape intersection

Mega-city deserves special attention. The city location is designed in the style of futuristic Japan, with lots of neon and rails. The rails were one of the important innovations in terms of gameplay. Players can jump on them to move swiftly around the map. Available weapons can be used during movement.

The game also features a kinetic blade, with which you can use a repulsive strike. As well as perform a piercing attack. An assault rifle with a silencer and a pump action shotgun will be added to the arsenal.

Fortnite will add new reality enhancements, such as the following:

• Unexpected find - getting prey after coming out of hiding
• Surplus nectar - increases the efficiency of regeneration
• Worthy Finale - reloads a piercing attack

It's also worth noting that Fortnite will cease to be supported on operating systems older than Windows 10.

Combat Pass

A new combat pass will also become available to players. With the purchase of the pass, the Renzo Destroyer will become available. With the level-up of the Combat Pass, it will also be possible to equip the stylish Thunderbolt, the elegant Electrician and other characters. The main guest for the second season of Chapter 4 will be Eren Yeager from Attack of the Titans, the hugely popular manga and anime.

As we can see, Epic Games have been developing their brainchild for almost 6 years now. Fortnite continues to impress with its collaborations and deservedly have the title of the largest media crossover in the world. Fans will get plenty of new content and in-game changes, and for veteran players this could be a reason to return to the game.
