Match Prediction: Execration - Invictus Gaming | Dota 2
WePlay AniMajor 2021The Kiev Major has not started yet, and the amazing results began long before the start. One of these was IG's performance during the season.
Last season's champion starts the second Major with a Wild Card. And then, barely getting there.
Opposing the eminent Chinese will be one of the oldest organizations in Dota 2, but one that has greatly changed its face. Execration are going to the Major for the first time in a very long time.
This is really more of an event for the Philippine Dota scene, and for the team as a whole. They will have to prove their professional suitability against neither more nor less reigning champions.
Pretty interesting seed for a match, don't you think? We're trying to figure out what to expect from this confrontation, and at the same time we'll see if IG will be interested in the second title.
IG form
Let's give due respect to IG and start the analysis with them. After a rather shaky, nevertheless very bright victory in the Singapore Major, the team relaxed quite a bit.
So much so that I almost found myself out of the major at all. Fortunately, the last games and a bit of luck (loss to Elephant) helped IG to break into Kiev.
IG Recent Results
- Win against EHOME 2-1
- Win against Sparking Arrow Gaming, 2-0
- Defeat Aster 2-1
- Defeat EHOME 2-0
- Win over RNG with a score of 2-0
Looking at the statistics, you might think that the above is nonsense and nothing IG is losing. But above we took 3 matches within the i-League 2021 (the first against EHOME, against Aster and RNG).
Execration Form
Let's move on to the form of the clear outsider of the match - Execration. The team that surprised during the season in Southeast Asia.
In general, the entire second season of Southeast Asia was surprising: what are the only replays for 7 teams at the end. And somehow, imperceptibly, Execration flew into the TOP-3/4 and beat Fnatic in replays without any problems.
Execration Latest Matches Results
- Defeat South Built Esports 2-0
- Defeat Fnatic 2-0
- Lost at Motivate.Trust Gaming with a score of 0-2
- Lose from OB Esports x Neon with a score of 0-2
- Lost to Lilgun 0-2
Again, as in the case of IG, some of the matches from the list above are not very indicative, as they were played in local tournaments. However, a dry loss by the same Lilgun is already a bell, as if and wherever it happened.
Personal meeting history
But in the history of personal confrontations, everything is quite interesting. The teams met three times and so far there is a parity between them: once they won IG, once (and the freshest game in 2020) they won Execration, and once the match ended in a draw.
Exodus
As much as I would not like to believe in the magic of the Major and outsiders, I do not see intrigue in this match. Yes, Execration are great and win when they are allowed to do it.
Remember at least the replay with Fnatic, where they flooded the game, leading more than 10 thousand gold with Medusa in more than 20 minutes. IG will not make such unforgivable mistakes.
Bottom line: IG win.
iG vs Execration will converge as part of the Wildcard stage for Weplay Animajor 2021. The region of Southeast Asia is 10 times weaker than China, although the heroes there are about the same.
iG could have completely flown past the Major, but they caught on to the last place, ahead of Elephant. Execration unexpectedly outplayed fnatic in replays and left them at home.
In Southeast Asia, they often play through Doom/Bristleback, just ban Timbersaw and take on the enforcers. So primitive heroes and strategies that should only work there.
In China, Elder Titan, Treant Protector, Legion Commander are very popular there, as well as a number of meta heroes that were fixed in 7.29d.
Play for iG: flyfly, Emo, JT-, Kaka, Oli
Execration is supported by: Palos, Yowe, Nikko, BDz, RR
Match prediction: iG vs Execration in Weplay Animajor 2021
Honestly, I can't believe in Execration at all, the only one they can cause problems here is ASM.GMB with two replacements.
The Filipinos have already arrived in Kiev, while the iG, it seems, will take a private flight from China, as there were problems with tickets. Most likely, everything will be possible without replacements. Both teams will definitely have a jet lag after the flight, I can't believe in Execration at all.
I would also like to note that iG is in a very unstable form and they do not really need this Major, since they guaranteed themselves a place at The International 10, it seems to me that they will not leave Wildcard, but will let someone from Europe pass.
Bookmakers give 1.275 odds per iG; 4.34 is a draw and 9.6 for Execration. I advise you to believe in an easy victory for iG, but do not forget about the best of 2 format, command jet lag and much more. Better to bet on LIVE drafts, but the Filipinos are several times weaker than the Chinese.
