About the organizer
The company PGL is the organizer of the tournament, which has become famous with a help of successfully hosted CS:GO and Dota 2 championships, including The Boston Major 2016, The Kiev Major 2017, HTC 2v2 CS:GO Invitational, PGL Krakow - Offline Qualifier, PGL CS:GO Krakow Major 2017 and PGL Open Bucharest 2017. Also, the organization carried out dozens of small competitions and helped with the organizing of The International 2016 and 2017.
The format
PGL was the first to make a decision to use the Swiss system of the group stage that had been loved by fans of CS:GO. All 16 participants will be put in one group, where they will have to win three times to advance to the playoffs. If a team has three losses, it will be eliminated from the championship. All matches will be bo1 and pairs will emerge closer to the dates of the beginning of the event.
The playoff stage is scheduled for March 9-10, where the top 8 teams will get to a Single-Elimination bracket with bo3 matches. The grand final will be played in a bo5 format.
The prize pool
The competition has received a status of the Major, so the prize pool will amount $1,000,000 and 1500 DPC points. At the moment, the distribution of the money reward is unknown and will emerge closer to the dates of the competition but you can find out the distribution of DPC points below:
1st place: 750 DPC points
2nd place: 450 DPC points
3rd place: 150 DPC points
4th place: 150 DPC points
The venue
The Bucharest Major 2018 will take place in Bucharest, Romania. The multipurpose hall Polyvalent Hall, that consists of about 6,000 people, has been chosen as a venue. He is used for concerts, such indoor sports events as a tennis, gymnastics, a dancing, a handball, a volleyball, a basketball, heavy athletics, martial arts and a professional wrestling.
