In brief:

J.Storm is a North American esports organization that is mostly known thanks to its Dota 2 subdivision. It appeared as a result of rebranding of a subsidiary team of Vici Gaming, VGJ.Thunder.

Let us walk you through the history of the Dota 2 roster J.Storm.

FIrst Appearance

The world first heard about J.Storm after rebranding a subsidiary team of Vici Gaming called VGJ.Thunder. In 2018, the team signed the team of marchoutofarmy that was made up by:

  • Moo
  • Bryle
  • FoREv
  • MiLAN
  • March

DeMoN also joined the team as a coach. Soon after the team got a new home, the players were to go through the first challenges.

Season 2018 and First Results

Storm started their journey to the esports top with a performance at the qualifiers for ESL One Hamburg 2018. At the small tournament with four contestants only, J.Storm finished third, so it hardly counts as success.

After that the team took part in World Showdown of Esports #1 where J.Storm took second place. It was followed by the elimination stage of King’s Cup 2: North America. There J.Storm took second place.

In November 2018, the team performed at their first Major tournament. It was The Kuala Lumpur Major. There J.Storm took 9th-12th place which was an expected and good results for a recently assembled team. After the performance at The Kuala Lumpur Major, the team successfully passed the qualifiers for The Chongqing Major and at the end of the year the players stopped one step away from winning the qualifiers for ESL One Katowice 2019.

Season 2019 and Fast Decline of J.Storm

Season 2019 started for J.Storm with a performance at The Chongqing Major. There the team repeated the results of The Kuala Lumpur Major and took 9th-12th place. Later J.Storm won the qualifiers for DreamLeague Season 11 and ESL One Mumbai 2019.

In March 2019, J.Storm took 7th-8th place at DreamLeague Season 11 which was the best result for the team at Major tournaments.

In April 2019, J.Storm was unable to get qualified for MDL Disneyland Paris Major and took second place at OGA Dota PIT Minor 2019. In the same month the team took 3rd-4th place at Qi Invitational.

Starting from 2019, the team was changes. At first the team dismissed FoREv whose slot was taken by Resolut1on. After that J.Storm lost bryle and March who were replaced by Nine and DeMoN. However, a bit later the latter returned to his coach duties and his slot was taken by 1437.

It was accompanied by participation in all possible tournaments. In this period J.Storm managed to take fourth place at the qualifiers for EPICENTER Major 2019, second place at StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 2, second place at WePlay! Dota 2 Tug of War: Dire America and, which is the most important, second place at the qualifiers for The International 2019.

After the bitter failure at the finals of the American qualifiers for The International, J.Storm went on playing at various championships. The team took 3rd-4th place at WePlay! Reshuffle Madness 2019, won Midas Mode 2 – Americas and failed the elimination stage at ESL One Hamburg 2019 and MDL Chengdu Major where the players took second and third places respectively.

In October 2019, J.Storm had a series of good tournaments. They finished 5th-6th at DreamLeague Season 12 and 5th-6th at MDL Chengdu Major which was a new record for the team’s results at Major tournaments. At the end of the year, the team took 5th-6th place at the elimination stage of DreamLeague Season 13, 3rd place at the qualifiers for WePlay! Bukovel Minor 2020 and 11th-12th place at ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational Singapore.

Their performance at ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational Singapore was the last one for the team. In March 2020, the North American subdivision ended their work.
