History of the legendary team Natus Vincere
Yuriy SheremetQuite recently we could see a show match of two Na'Vi rosters. The legendary gamers from 2010 were fighting with the current roster of young and energetic players in CS:GO and 1.6. Even more interesting matches are taking place at the moment.
Today we are going to tell you the history of «Born to Win» (this is the meaning of the name Natus Vincere in Latin) in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. There was everything: ups and downs.
Beginning
The date when the team was founded is considered to be 17 December 2009. In those days the Ukrainian team KerchNET had some difficulties and the team split up. The gamers gatherer under the wing of the Kazakh patron nicknamed Arbalet. The roster accounted for the following legendary gamers: Zeus, Ceh9, Markeloff, Edward, and Starix. Aleksandr Kokhanovskyy, also known as ZeroGravity, became the manager of the team.
At first, the team was called Arbalet.UA. Several months later, there was a contest in order to find the best name for the team. As a result, it was decided to be called Natus Vincere – Na'Vi. Translated from Latin, it means «Born to Win». This option got stuck with the team and it has been following them since then.
At the first tournament, the new tag gained gold medals. It was Intel Extreme Masters in Hannover. At the final, Natus Vincere met the menacing Swedish gamers from fnatic, however, the Ukrainian gamers turned out to be stronger. The team brought 50,000 dollars home. After that, Na'Vi won two more tournaments in a row. In total, in 2010 they managed to win seven competitions. Three more tournaments brought the team bronze medals.
In 2011, the team started quite vigorously. They won tournaments one after another but the end of the year showed worse results. Nevertheless, the team took second and third places and earned good prize money.
2012 is a real «silver year» for Natus Vincere. Then the team almost always got placed on the second positions at the tournaments.

Counter-Strike:Global Offensive
The transfer to the new game that was getting more and more popular among gamers and esportsmen was pretty hurtful for «Born to Win». The team had a streak of unlucky events – they just collected fails. They needed changes. Denis seized Kostyn was invited to the team instead of Egor Markelov. Consequently, Ceh9 was also replaced – his position was taken by Vladyslav Kovach, also known as GuardiaN.
Gradually the results of the renewed team started to improve. In 2014, the team won some tournaments and also started to achieve high positions at prestigious events. So, «Born to Win» gained a trophy at StarLadder StarSeries IX in Kyiv. At the tournament, they managed to beat Titan, Virtus.Pro, and Ninjas in Pyjamas.
In 2015, a new gamer joined the team. It was Egor flamie Vasiliev. Starix moved from the gamer’s position and took up the coach role. The refreshment of the team affected the results positively. After flamie joined the team, the gamers won StarLadder StarSeries XIII and Electronic Sports World Cup 2015. The year finished with their victory at Intel Extreme Masters X - San Jose. At the final, the Danish from TSM got beaten by the team from Kyiv.
During the period of the team’s existence, Na'Vi’s results can be characterized as «swings». At first, the team destroys all the opponents the gamers meet and later they cannot join Three Best for several months in a row. Usually, the roster after the refreshment plays eagerly and wins but then this period is followed by stagnation.
Now Natus Vincere can brag about one of the best players in the world – S1mple. He joined the team in 2016. He is also accompanied by Perfecto, flamie, Electrion, Boombl4. The last representative of the Legendary Roster, Zeus, left the team at the end of 2019.
The current roster may also boast about their own achievements. At the beginning of the year, the team took first place at Intel Extreme Masters XIV - World Championship. The tournament is remarkable due to the fact that it was the start of Natus Vincere’s victories.
